Achieving the perfect balance between work and life is almost impossible but there are simple ways in which you can smooth out the edges and ensure that you do not neglect your work, your family or yourself.
Knowing that there is no such thing as an ideal balance is actually a good way to start achieving a better one. For entrepreneurs in particular it is more a matter of making small adjustments, for example minor changes that allow you to get home half an hour earlier without sacrificing any work commitments.
At the same time you need to be sanguine about unexpected but essential work commitments that may cut into your personal time.
One of the best things you can do is to get used to saying no. This is very difficult for some people, especially those who like to try to please everybody, but is absolutely essential to get a better balance in your own life.
You should never be afraid to send unscheduled calls to voicemail or back out of a meeting that is called at the last minute just as you were about to go home. You need to focus on your priorities and not be forced to do things out of guilt.
